Be careful what you wish for...

The last couple of days, here's some of the "topics" that have crossed my mind lately...
1) Last February, I spent a lot of time travelling for work. This February looked like I was going to spend a lot more time at home.
2) The accountant at work quit. At the time, I wondered what the position paid, and if I lived in Victoria, if I would be interested.
3) The accounting clerk handed in her notice last week. I wondered at the time what the accounting department was going to do. Out of 3 people, they only had the controller left. I heard through the grapevine that the controller was difficult to work with. I wondered how difficult? I certainly have had my fair share of "difficult" controllers or Directors of Finance over the years. I've met her. Could she really be all that bad to work for?
4) I was getting frustrated with my job this month, and decided that I wanted to talk to my boss about doing "special projects" or other billable work. I used to do a lot of that with the old boss, and wanted to discuss the possibilities of doing that type of work again.

Well, be careful what crosses your mind, as it just might come true.
I got a call today. The company has asked me to fill in for the accounting department all of next week, and then 3 days a week for the next month or so. That means, travelling to head office in Victoria each week. Working in Accounting again. And doing something other than my current job for awhile.

mmmm....I think I'm excited about the opportunity. But scared that it's going to be a LOT of work, and a huge learning curve. Well, at least I can walk in and say that I already know the software!! :-)
Good things...I get to show the company how versatile I am, and how well I can adapt to change. It definitely increases my vlaue to the company.
Bad things....I have to dress up for work. No more sitting around in my sweats with my big fuzzy socks!
