Three Things Thursday

3 of my favourite meals...

1) Turkey dinner. (Do you see now why I like Christmas so much?) Turkey, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts (yes! I love brussel sprouts!), stuffing, more stuffing, and loads and loads of gravy and cranberry sauce. Hubby is not a big fan of turkey, so I usually only get this if someone else cooks it -- like at Thanksgiving or on Christmas Day. Occasionally, I will buy a turkey and cook the whole meal for the 2 of us. He will eat with me the first night, but refuse to eat anymore. The result is that I eat the leftovers for 4 days afterwards, while he survives on canned soup and sandwiches. Kooky, but it works for us!

2) Peas n cheese n rice. My own concoction of (you guessed it) peas, cheddar cheese, and white rice. Cook the rice. Cook the peas (I usually use frozen). Grate the cheddar cheese. Layer items in a bowl, put a dollop of butter on top, and microwave for a minute or two until the cheese melts. Enjoy with a big spoon.
Note: I had this a lot when I was single. It was good, fast, and filling...the perfect "bachelorette" food. Hubby HATES it (and I mean HATES it), and makes funny faces at me whenever I indulge.

3) Roast Beef (medium rare) with all the trimmings. Mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, Yorkshire pudding, and lots and lots of gravy. Hubby is a fan of this one, so we have it more often. But we usually cook the roast on the BBQ rotisserie. Tried it once, and it was so good, we haven't put a roast in the oven since.

mmmm...now I'm hungry!!
