I agreed to this?

Sorry, but I'm going to vent...

When I agreed to help out the accounting department, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Turns out, I'm an overqualified AP clerk! I haven't coded and entered AP invoices since I don't know when. Ok... I do know. It was 1992. That was when I was promoted to Senior Accounting Clerk, and never went back to AP after that. It was all management positions after that job. And while I did do some coding and entering of AP invoices over the years, it hasn't been my responsibility/job for over 16 years.

And who knew that they would be this disorganized!!! Without going into details, let's just say, that this is not the way I would run an accounting department. Management is "borrowing" us (me and 3 others) from other departments and temp services. The result....mass confusion, and disorganization that is making me cringe just thinking about it.

While talking to my boss, I asked why I agreed to this. He said I didn't have a choice. I said that I could have said NO. But he said (and I quote), "it's like your mother telling you to clean your room when you were 12. If you would have said NO, then she would have said, I'm not asking anymore, I'm telling you." I don't blame him. I know his hands are tied.

So, I'm trying to keep my mouth shut, and my head down. The work is easy....I could do it in my sleep. But the office politics are something that I will never get used to. One thing is for sure...I will definitely appreciate MY job more when I get to go back to it full time!
