I heard about this book from a number of places. First, Chapters/Indigo emailed me a promotional offer on the trilogy (which I didn't take). I wasn't sure about the books. I hadn't heard anything about the author before and had no idea if I would like his books or not. But then, one of the girls in the Victoria office told me about the books. She told me that the author was Swedish and that he died shortly after delivering the manuscripts for the three books to his publisher. That intrigued me. For one, my Grandfather was Swedish, and my sister and I have travelled there. And two, my friend told me that she was dissapointed that he would never write another book, as she really enjoyed his writing. So, I picked up the Dragon book.
My first impression was good. His writing style was easy to follow and the characters were believable and well developed. I actually really enjoyed the book. I had only one issue..... The ending. I had actually guessed what was going to happen in the end well before it did. Which left the whole thing somewhat anti-climatic. Not a good thing when you are reading a "who-dunnit" novel. Now, the story did have a sub-plot going on besides the main storyline....so, it wasn't a total loss. But I'm thinking twice about reading the second book, at least for awhile.
In the meantime...if you haven't read Dragon yet, I would recommend it. But, if you have seen the movie, or know the ending, then I would skip it as you might be disappointed. (although, truthfully, I haven't seen the movie yet so I have no idea if it's like the book or not, but why take a chance?)

I'll have to borrow the books from you. We picked up "Digital Fortress" at one of the TT libraies and I'm reading it now. Can't believe we'll be home this week!!
I've been deciding whether to read this book or not for ages, but don't really like crime, (I don't think!) Is it really gory?
