Today, I went to see my #1 niece play in her
ukulele band concert. To be honest, I wasn’t too excited about going.
But I had promised her mother that I would try it out. Well, I was
pleasantly surprised. They did a wonderful job, and I actually really
enjoyed it.
The
ensemble is made up of kids from 10 to 16 years of age. They are the “B”
team to the organizations “A” team… so they are all aspiring youth, who
are gaining the experience and talent to move up to the A’s. I had
heard my niece practice before, so I knew some of the songs that they
were going to play. But, to hear 20+ people playing the same song on the
ukulele at the same time in perfect harmony and perfect timing with
each other, was amazing. Most of the concert was made up of songs where
they played, and sang. But, I especially liked the instrumental pieces
they did. They were all good singers, but the instrumental pieces really
showcased their talent as a band.
