Well, I took the plunge, and actually took my camera in for servicing. I was going to just go out and buy a new one, but the thrifty side of me couldn't justify it when I can get my camera fixed for free. Just a little inconvenience, but basically free of charge.
So, I drove the 35 minutes to the repair shop, dropped it off, and asked them to ship it back to me when done. I then took the opportunity to visit the scrapbooking store in the neighbourhood, and spent $40 on scrapbooking stuff that I will probably not use for months to come. (But that's a whole other story).
In 7 to 10 days, I should have my camera back. woohoo!
