We live in a cul-de-sac, so everyone here knows everyone else. It's a great neighbourhood. I'm on speaking terms with most of our neighbours, and don't have any particular problems with any of them. But, it is a close neighbourhood, and people do tend to watch out for each other.
So, imagine the following story...
Keena barking. Went to shut her up, and saw Canada Post van trying to back up the neighbour's driveway. (their driveway is like ours...long and steep...about 4o-45 degrees uphill to get to the garage. NO ONE drives up our driveway. EVERYONE parks at the bottom and walks up.)
So, I was surprised that Canada Post van would try it. Then, like something out of a movie....Van Guy hit a slippery spot. Tires spinning. So, Van Guy stops, goes back down the driveway to try again. Gives the van a lot of gas. Stops about 5-10 feet away from the garage door. Decides to go back just a few inches more, but gives the van too much gas. *BAM*. Right into their garage door.
Van guy then drove down the driveway, parked the van at the bottom, ran up the driveway, and pulled on the garage door to see if he could put it back into place. When he decided he couldn't, he ran back to the van, got out the package he was supposed to deliver, left it at the front door, and then proceeded to leave.
Well, I do have to give Van Guy credit though, because 10-15 minutes later, he did come back. Had a couple of "suits" with him, who were talking to him, and taking pictures of the garage door. But I copied down his license plate and van number, and left a note on the neighbours door anyways. Just in case.
Neighbour lady says that Canada Post did not leave a note or anything. So, she's glad I left her a note so she would know what happened. She is going to keep me posted on what happens.
Just a little excitement for 10:00am this morning. :-)
