Doing what I want?

Yesterday, I had a chat with a friend who used to work with me.
He understands what I do for a living, and knows what I used to do.
He made a comment yesterday that has me thinking long and hard about my current job.
He said that everything I learn at this job is non-transferrable to another job. It's very specific, and therefore, whatever I learn here, I cannot take this knowledge to another job. He strongly suggested I get out, and go back into accounting before I spend too long working in IT, and not be able to get back into Accounting.
I can see his point. I had problems about 3 years ago when I did the same thing. It took me 7 months to find work after leaving a job in the IT field. When I tried to go back to Accounting, there were few who would give me a chance...and I had only been "out" of Accounting for 18 months. I worry that I will have the same problem if for any reason I am asked to leave this job.

But, then....I work from home. Which I absolutely love. I don't have to worry about commuting, or dressing up for work, or packing lunches, or getting stuck at the office late at night. I have lots of time off, lots of vacation days, and have the freedom to work my own hours (to a point). My work ethic usually has me working more (rather than less) hours than I should. But that happens, no matter what job I have.

Anyways...it's something I'm still thinking about. I think I might just take a look, and see what's out there.
