gotta love a bargain

Since we've had the house painted, we've wanted to update the light fixtures on the outside of the house. But, then, we went to Home Depot and found out the price. For the cheap plastic white ones, they were $15 a piece. For the better looking metal ones...well, they ranged anywhere from $50 to $100 a piece. (The ones I liked were $74 each...and we need 3 of them!).
When did light fixtures become so darn expensive!?!?
A's solution ==> buy a can of "hammered metal finish" spray paint, and convert our lovely 1970's brass fixtures to a more updated look.
While I was sceptical, I can't believe how good they turned out!! And, it only cost us $4.39 plus tax!! We even had enough paint to do the house numbers, and the mailbox, for that overall-tied-in look :-)
Gotta love it!
