My car is sick!

I took my car in today to get the snow tires put on. The shop called later that morning, asking if I wanted to get an oil change done too. I said no, and they told me the car was ready to be picked up. When I went to pick it up at lunchtime, the guy said to me that the brakes were a little "grabby". I haven't had any problems with the brakes, so I said I didn't know what that could be. Well, I paid the guy, then went to leave. I didn't even make it out of the parking lot. I couldn't drive the car. Each time I just touched the brakes just a little, the whole car started "convulsing" and the car came to a sudden stop. Almost like the brakes had seized up.

I parked the car, and walked back into the shop. The guy wouldn't admit that they had done anything wrong, and the problem was mine. If I wanted to leave the car there again, they would take a look at it....after lunch. (he wasn't going to ask his mechanic to leave his lunch hour to come and take a look). My argument was that the brakes were working fine when I dropped it off, so it was now his responsibility to take a look, and figure out why they weren't working. Besides, A had already left and gone back to work, so I had no way of getting home. Long story short, the guy started giving me the "you-are-a-girl-and-I-can-give-you-the-run-around-if-I-want-to" attitude. Until I called A, and asked him to come back to the shop. Then suddenly they were a lot more helpful.

Problem was, the mechanic probably pulled the e-brake on so hard, when he released the e-brake, it did not release the brakes. They fixed it for me (free of charge) but told me that it will happen again if I put the e-brake on. But then the guy had the audacity to tell me that they would have caught this particular problem, if only I had agreed to the oil change earlier in the day. What an oil change has to do with a brake inspection, I have no idea.

Anyways, I'm not going to go back there again. And, it's too bad...it was close to home and so convenient. But, I can't deal with attitude. He pissed me off. Meanwhile, I've booked the car into the dealership for a brake inspection next Tuesday. It's on the other side of town, and totally inconvenient, but I don't know where else to go. I only pray I don't have problems with it until then. Just gotta remember not to pull that e-brake handle, and I should be fine. :-)

I don't like it when my car is sick!
