Random Thursday Thoughts

I have a funeral to go to this week. I don't like funerals. But my Grandpa always said that you HAVE to go no matter how well you knew the person, or even how much you liked the person. You just go. Grandpa had over 200 people at his funeral. He would have been so proud.

"Look Mom! No hands!" -- I never liked that saying. When I was a kid, I thought that my hands would fall off if I said it too much.

I was at a big box store recently, and went through the checkout with about 10 items. I had a coupon for one (at $3.50 off). I placed the coupon next to the item I was buying, clearly visible to all. The checkout girl was new, and "in training" according to her name tag. She was being helped by another, more senior, checkout girl. When I arrived home, I unpacked my bags only to find the coupon at the bottom of the bag. When I looked on the receipt, I realized that she had not deducted the $3.50 from the purchase. I guess she didn't realize what a coupon was, or how it was supposed to work. She may have been "in training", but just how stupid do you have to be not to realize what a coupon is for??

I don't "get" interpretive dance.

The local Dollar Store is a great idea...buy anything you want for only a $1. But, I have to admit that I don't shop there. I swear they use the brightest light bulbs on the market, and have 3 times as many light fixtures as a normal store. I need sunglasses on just to walk into the place. And it always smells like cheap plastic. In fact, everything you buy from there and bring home smells like cheap plastic. That can't be good.

Time travel has always intrigued me. If given the opportunity to go forward in time (even if there was no chance I could return) I would jump at the chance. It's doubtful though, that I would go backwards in time. I prefer not to know what I'm getting myself into.

I don't drink pop (or soda, or whatever you call it) on a regular basis. I will have the occasional root beer or ginger-ale, mostly when I'm out for lunch, or travelling. My consumption is about 1 pop per month (or less). I think the last time I had a Coke was about 15 years ago. I can't believe how shocking that statement is to some people.
