Recently, I finished reading the Dan Brown novel The Lost Symbol. I got the book as a Christmas present, and was actually looking forward to reading it. I've enjoyed his other books, and this one was no exception. The book is a the latest in a series of "Robert Langdon" books...with Angels and Demons, and The DaVinci Code being the other two. I've also read his other books, Deception Point, and Digital Fortress.
The Lost Symbol was written in typical Dan Brown style. Fast moving, suspenseful, exciting, easy to read, unique, with just a touch of humour thrown in. While the storyline is different than his other books, the premise and his writing style is the same. He centers his stories around ancient rituals, symbols, and organizations (like the Freemasons). There are a few things in the book that seem somewhat unbelievable. But, it's a novel....a work of fiction....so I tend to overlook that kind of stuff, and keep reading, because I enjoy his writing style. I also like the whole "origins" thing. Finding the origin of a word, or symbol has always appealed to me. Knowing the true meaning of an old saying. Understanding how words and phrases came about. That kind of thing has always fascinated me, and maybe that's why I enjoy his books so.
If you like Dan Brown, you will like The Lost Symbol. It's not my favourite (The DaVinci Code was my favourite book of his), but this one came awfully close. It was a page-turner, and I really enjoyed it. (Thanks Hubby, for the Christmas present!!)

I read the Lost Symbol while we were away and enjoyed it too. Do you have Digital Fortress? If so could I borrow it?
