It was the Thursday before my long weekend, and Momma Canada Goose, with little babies, were on the side of the road, slowing down traffic.
Then, 2 bald eagles were in the field fighting over a mouse or rat or something. Again, traffic needed to slow down to look. (mind you, it was kind of interesting)
One blue parakeet, or some other type of blue bird, that escaped from a person's residence, flying around in rush hour traffic. Everyone stops so as not to hit the poor thing. I don't know if he survived or not. It is unlikely.
But I did. Survived that is. Survived the rush hour to work and back. And then I spent a nice relaxing day on the back deck watching a momma and poppa chickadee make a nest in the birdhouse in our maple tree. We even spotted a new bird we haven't seen before..
It's a spotted Towhee. We looked it up.
Cool looking bird. Foraged in our garden for bugs and worms for about 1/2 hour, while we watched.
It's been a weekend for the birds, for sure.
