I recently finished reading The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafon...
He's one of my favourite authors. But this one was a bit of a disappointment. It's a continuation of his previous two novels (Shadow of the Wind, and Angel's Game). Although, you could read this without reading the other two... you just get more background information on the characters if you read the others. Anyways, I love the style of the writing, and the uniqueness of the storyline. It simply amazes me that he writes in Spanish, and this is an English translation! There is nothing lost in translation with his books, for sure!
But, this book was shorter than the others, and lacked the one thing that the others had... that build up to that final climactic ending. There wasn't anything really climatic about this book, and that's something that I have come to rely on from the writer.
It was a nice book to read, but was lacking something for me. For that reason I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
