Safeway

Safeway has decided to close some of their stores. One is in our neighbourhood. Now, it's not our "usual" Safeway that we shop at. It has a tendency to be too busy, with not enough check-out cashiers. So, we usually visit the other Safeway in our neighbourhood. But, today we decided to check it out.

It's closing officially on May 20th. A lot of the shelves were already pared down quite a bit. And a lot of things that they aren't going to carry in the near future were on sale. Some 30 to 40% off. It's a great place to stock up on things like spices, canned goods, coffee and tea.
We don't know what's going into the space in the future, but I'm thinking with the amount of land they have there, it will likely go to a developer who will build a combination grocery store and apartment tower.
I'm sad to see it go, but we got some great deals, so I'm happy about that!
