Weekend Movie review

We watched 2 movies last night. Rented. Here's what I thought...

Cloverfield.

Interesting movie. Different. Actually quite refreshing. Despite the lack of over the top special effects, was actually a well shot, well done movie. Only complaints...the acting from all characters was not the greatest. I didn't like the moodiness of the Marlena character. And, it wasn't that scary. At least not for me. I guess it was because of the format...perhaps that why I felt a lack of suspense and "freakiness" that I usually feel with movies like this.

I love Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but I just don't love his choice of movies. This was a good movie, but after the action of Cloverfield, I guess it was a little bit "boring". Although, it did make me think about death, dying, and who is going to look after me when I'm 80.
The Laura Linney character was well done, but I have been watching a lot of old Frasier episodes lately, and I couldn't get over the connection to Frasier's girlfriend Charlotte.
