Last summer we were able to buy 2 Sockeye salmon from local fishermen. At the time, we packaged it up and froze most of it. Every so often, we decide to dig out a package from the freezer and BBQ the contents. We just opened the last package about 2 weeks ago. Which was perfect timing, because fishing is open again, and we can get fresh fish again. Time to restock the freezer.
But, this year, the fishing hasn't been as good. There have been 2 openings on the river so far this year, but the catch isn't as big as last year. And the prices are high! So, when Safeway put Pink Salmon on for Buy-one-get-one-free last weekend, we took advantage. Pink Salmon isn't nearly as good as Sockeye (in my opinion), but the price was right. So, I went over on Sunday night, and picked up these 2 guys...
I cut them both into steaks, and packaged them up to freeze them.
There! Now we have salmon steaks to munch on for the rest of the winter!
