Company shake up

A bunch of people in my world got laid off today when our company did a restructuring. About 80 people in total were let go, with 3 smaller offices closed. Some were offered other positions in the company, while the majority of them were laid off. Most of this happened in the US, but it still affected us, as most of the CAD folks deal with people in the US on a daily basis. I had no idea it was happening. Until I got the emails from Corporate. And then I found out that 8 of my friends were let go. One of them a close friend, and who travelled with me to New Orleans last year. It's a sad day for me.
