my car

I drive a 1996 vehicle. It's not a hybrid. It's not an expensive car. It's not a fancy car.

I am travelling to Victoria next week for work. And every time I take a car trip somewhere, I am reminded about how old my car is, and how I really should get something newer.
But, we can't really afford to replace a vehicle that is running fine, considering I don't drive it everyday anymore. So, I try and concentrate on the "good" things about my car...the things that I have grown to love about it, no matter how annoying they might be...
For example:

1) I love how it clunks 3 or 4 times about 2 blocks from the house. I don't know what the clunk is. It's always done that. Only does it the first time you drive it that day, so it's usually at the first stop light I hit after leaving the house. If it didn't clunk, then I think I would worry.

2) I love how the alarm system is tied to the power locks, so when you start the car, the doors lock. But, as you drive, and the car warms up, the locks decide they don't want to be locked anymore, and unlock themselves. *CLUNK* The first time it happened, it freaked the heck out of me. Now, I just smile when it freaks out my passengers.

3) I love how the driver's side headlight takes 2 seconds longer to come on than the passenger side headlight. Turn on the lights, the passenger side lights up, and then wait, just wait, and *bink* the driver side lights up.

4) I love how the radio (not me) decides what volume to play at. When you first turn on the radio, you know you need to turn it down immediately after turning it on. It will come on LOUD, and you have to spin that volume knob more than a couple of times before it clicks in and actually turns the volume down. Funny thing about this, is that it has me so programmed now, that when I'm in A's truck, and he turns on the radio, the first thing I do is reach over and turn it down!

5) I love how the cruise control will automatically shut off when you hit a bump. Doesn't have to be a big bump, just a little one. It won't come back on again, until you pull over, shut the car off, restart it, and continue on. I think my car has been talking to my laptop too much, and now it's acting like Windows!!!
