weekend casualty

It was a busy, but fun weekend.
My Mom and Dad celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Saturday, so we had them over for dinner to celebrate. It was a very nice evening. I was a little behind schedule, and spent the first couple of hours thinking that I forgot something. But, other than that, we had fun, and dinner turned out great.
But, there was one small tragedy.
Her name is Troy. She was introduced to us by my mother-in-law. She usually only comes around in the winter time, for dinner parties. She's great for those vegetable side dishes. But, she had an accident this weekend...

:-)
Seriously, my mother-in-law gave us a set of china when we first got together. It's Noritake Troy pattern, and was an older set of hers that she no longer used. I don't particularly like the set all that much, but it's the only set of china I have that I have dinner plates for. (The lavender rose pattern, I have lots of that, but no dinner plates). So, we use this set a lot for dinner parties. The vege dish was the best piece of the set, and I was a little dissappointed that broke it while I was washing up on Sunday. Hubby is a little more upset than I am...partly because he likes the set way more than he likes my Lavender Rose set, and partly because it came from his mother. But the pattern is discontinued now. So, I guess I'll be on the hunt for a replacement piece on ebay...or craigslist....or somewhere.

What a shame. I am a lover of china (I have 9 sets!) and it's always so sad when a piece gets broken. I hope you can find a replacement. Btw, I actually like the elegant simplicity of this pattern.
