no more water

We solved the water issue in the basement. Turned out to be a clogged pipe that one of the downspouts was draining into. It's clogged so bad, the drain guy couldn't snake it out. We will have to divert it for the winter, and dig it up and replace it in the summer.

For now, we have the downspout pulled away from the house, and draining into the garden. Not pretty, but it is only temporary.
Meanwhile, the drain guy also noticed that our catch basin was full and not draining. He snaked that, but wasn't able to clear the clog. The City is supposed to come out this week to snake the line from their side.
The water has stopped seeping into the basement. But in all this process, we had to rip up the carpet, so the basement hallway is looking a little worse for wear...
That's ok. I said I wanted to replace the flooring here, and paint the walls anyways. But, I was putting it off because we had so much other work to do on the house, and it wasn't high on the priority list before. Now, it looks like the priorities have changed. I guess you have to be careful what you wish for!
