Olympic update

Ok...for those of you who are not fans of the Olympic Games, please disregard the following post, and keep in mind that the Olympics are drawing to a close soon, and in a few days time, I will no longer post Olympic stats and/or updates, and will humbly tuck my Canadian pride back in, as I post about more normal day-to-day things.

For those of you who are fans (or are just proud Canadians)...keep reading.
Canadian women ROCK!

The Canadian Woman's Hockey team beat out the US last night for our 3rd Gold medal in a row in Woman's Hockey in the Winter Olympics! It was a shut-out. They won 2 to 0!! The US team won Silver, but seemed really upset about it. Some of them were even crying after the game. (There's no crying in hockey!!) Serves them right though. Apparently, the news reported earlier in the week, that the US Woman's hockey team ordered a case of sparkling wine to be delivered to the arena on the night of the game. I guess they expected to have a good reason to celebrate. Not that winning silver is anything to be ashamed of. But, me thinks that their expectations were slightly higher. At least they had the foresight to order a Canadian sparkling wine.

Meanwhile, Canada's Joannie Rochette won a bronze medal in Woman's Figure Skating, just a few days after her mother passed away from a heart attack here in Vancouver. It was a touching performance, and the country is very proud of her. I'm pretty sure I would be a basket case if my mother passed away suddenly. Not sure I would be able to function in day-to-day life, never mind compete in the Olympics. Hats off to her, and her professionalism, fortitude, and dedication to her sport.

Which brings me to the medal count now...
8 GOLD, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze for a total of 17.
and we still have the Men's Hockey team, and curling (in which both men and woman are going for gold!).

Also, we found a local TV station that is playing a non-stop look at the cauldron downtown. That's right folks. Cauldron-Cam!! It's funky! This station is only available if you have digital cable, and at Christmas time it plays that fireplace thing 24/7. I love the cable guys that decided to set this up to show the cauldron. What a great idea!!

You've been our Olympics link. We sometimes get some of the Olympics on the TV in the clubhouse...our TV in the trailer gets zilch. Glad you're enjoying them so much.
