Freakin out Friday

I updated my blog this morning, and I usually take a few minutes here and there during work hours to peruse a few of my favourite blogs. Well, imagine my surprise when I clicked on a fellow blogger's website and go this error...

Ok...you can't really read that, can you? It said...
We're sorry...But your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.

Now, this error appeared on EVERY SINGLE BLOG website that I tried to go to...INCLUDING MINE!!! I freaked! What kind of sh*t did I get myself into now!?!
I did a few searches on the internet. I scanned for malicious malware, and spyware. I deleted cookies, temporary files, and all save passwords, etc. I updated my virus protection. I found NOTHING. I called my cable (internet) provider. They were most helpful, but basically told me, it was my problem. Finally, after a few more searches on the internet, here's what I came up with...
I'm too fast. I was surfing blog websites too fast. I clicked here, I clicked there, and it finally stopped. Apparently Google thinks I'm a machine, and I'm trying to do something malicious. No one human could possibly read blogs that fast, so I must be a virus. So, they blocked my IP address. Good for Google. Bad for me. I ended up searching Google Help, and found a form to send to Google to have them unblock my IP address. I don't know what finally did it, but about 10 minutes after submitting the form, I'm finally back up and running.
What I found out during all this...
1) I need to update my virus protection, scan for spyware/malware, and delete cookies and temporary files on a more regular basis.
2) I need to slow down, and not try to read 20 blogs at once (easier said than done)
3) I need to stop blogging during work hours. I didn't get anything done for the 2 hours I was searching, scanning and freaking out.
4) I need to warn others (thus this post). Seems there was a lot of questions about my problem, with few solutions out there. Although, I have to admit...I hesitated for a moment before I posted this. You see, my mother reads my blog, and that's all I need...one more reason why she doesn't have to move off of dial-up!! :-)

Now be nice!! Just when I was actually thinking of getting a faster connecton. Since you've got such a fast connection can you find a bran muffin recipe that uses applesauce and bran...not All Bran cereal but actual bran? Better get some applesauce recipes for yourself too...I'm been making lots of it! M.
