Yesterday, I went downtown to check out the Vancouver Christmas Market. It's a traditional German style market, complete with arts, crafts and food booths. It is the first year this was put together, and I think it was a big hit. It was a wonderful way to spend the day. And the rain drops even held off until later in the day, so I didn't get soaked.
The best part of the day was watching this guy...
He did a glass blowing demostration, and it was really well done. He not only had a great sense of humour, but he was quite talented too. I ended up buying on of his glass ornaments for our tree this year.
I spent a bit of money on other things too. I got some honey, a tea-light candle holder, and some German cookies and Stollen from this all natural bakery. The cost to get in was only $2.00 (discounted down from $5.00, because it's nearing the end of the market -- it ends on Dec 24th). And most of the booths had everything 20 or 30% off. The only thing that I didn't like was that there wasn't much selection left. Next year, I'm going to have to go down in the first week of the market, as some of the vendors had sold out some of their more popular items, and there were a few empty shelves.
Today... I went out early this morning to pick up a few groceries before the holidays. Then came home to finish some laundry and clean the house. I'm officially ready for Christmas now, and can spend the next few days just relaxing and enjoying myself. Our usual routine is Christmas Eve at my family's, and Christmas Day at A's family. Boxing Day, we are going to A's Brother's place.
Merry Christmas everyone!
