Do you deal with the public in your job? Do you hate it as much as I do?
I don't deal with the public per se...but I do have to deal with our customers. I work in Support. You know....the person on the other end of the line that answers all your questions when you have problems with something. Well, I'm able to login to most of our customers to resolve their issues for them. Most of the time, we can communicate through email. Most of the time, I'm dealing with the upper or middle management teams of a company. Usually, well educated, well spoken, intelligent individuals. Occasionally though, I will have to deal with someone who hasn't got a clue. Here's an email string from this week from one such customer. Of course, I had to edit out all the company information, but you get the idea...
Her - Invoices 805567 and 805778 is showing checks issued. Checks have never been issued. Please help us resolve these transactions. Thank you.
Me - The phone number we have for you is not valid. Can you please send me a new phone number so I can reach you, or send me more information on these invoices. I cannot find either invoice in your system.
Her - Please resolve.
Me - As per my email from 3 days ago, can you please provide more information on these invoices. They do not appear in your system. Please provide a transaction number, amount, or supplier code, so that I may assist you.
Her - Here are the details..."Invoices 805567 and 805778 is showing checks issued. Checks have never been issued. Please help us resolve these transactions. Thank you."
Me - I'm sorry. But I could not find invoice 805567 and 805778 in your system. Please provide me with a transaction number, amount, or supplier code, so that I may assist you.
Her - Here are the details.. "Invoices 805567 and 805778 is showing checks issued. Checks have never been issued." I do not know what other information you need.
Me (not actually sent in email, but screamed out loud to the computer screen) -- what do you mean, you don't know what information I need! How about a transaction number? Or a supplier code? Can't you read???
At this point, I'm ready to give up!!!! And I'm so busy at work, that I really don't have time for this. Somedays I like my job. Today is not one of those days.
