I finished reading John Dies at the End, by David Wong
I wrote on Facebook, this... If Stephen King ever wrote a book while on acid, it might be something like this. It made me laugh out loud, and sleep with the lights on cuz it freaked me out!
So true! His style of writing was witty and funny, and a real page turner. The subject matter is not what I usually read. I don't do 'scary' anymore. But, I heard rave reviews about this book, and wanted to see what it was all about.
The first half was great. I laughed. I freaked. But somewhere in the middle, I got immune to it all. It was just too much!. It got to a point where I was just wondering when it would end. How could so much happen to 2 guys? What on earth else was going to happen? It went on and on, in other words.
I would recommend it, but I would almost recommend reading it from cover to cover without putting it down. I put it down for a week or so, and that's when I lost interest. His style of writing kept me going until the end though, not the storyline.
I'm giving this one a 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
