With the last episode of Game of Thrones fast approaching, there are all kinds of things out there being marketed as GOT items. I found these at the drug store today...
Yup, GOT Oreo cookies. I don't know what Oreo Cookies has to do with Game of Thrones, but I fell into the temptation, and bought a package (it helped that they were on sale). Once opened, I realized they had the different houses stamped on the cookies. One for White Walkers, House Lannister, House Targaryen, and House Stark.
They all tasted just like regular Oreo cookies though.

The Good Doctor
The Good Doctor
Do you watch The Good Doctor on CTV? I didn't. Until just over 3 weeks ago. I found that my new Crave TV app had Season 1, and the CTV Go app had Season 2 on it. So, I started binge watching it.
I don't like most TV shows, so I didn't have high hopes for this one. But I was pleasantly surprised. While it does have some of that -- anything that can go wrong does go wrong, but in the end, everyone makes it out alive -- vibe to it, the episodes are well acted and interesting. And because it's filmed in Vancouver, I'm always on the lookout for local spots dressed up as something else. Like isn't that hospital really Surrey City Hall? And the one episode where they were downtown New West in front of the old Paramount Theatre - where we used to go for movies in my teens!
I just finished Season 2. That's right. I binged watched 2 seasons (or something like 36 episodes) in about 3 1/2 weeks. Most of that was on my iPad, with the bluetooth headphones on, curled up on the couch while hubby played away on his playstation. So cumfy and cozy - maybe that's why I enjoyed it so.

Connection Woes
First, it was our phone line that started crapping out. Back and forth with Telus, and there is still nothing they can do unless we totally upgrade our services. Then our internet went out. It came back, but was spotty and very slow. It's slowly resolved itself over the last few days, but isn't what it used to be... yet. Then our On Demand stopped working.
4 times where I've had to wait at home for the technician to show up, and I don't know how many texts, emails, and phone calls back and forth to Support lines... I'm getting really tired of dealing with Support lines, and all the problems we've had recently. It hasn't been fun. I can't wait until everything goes back to normal!!

PBS The Great American Read
PBS had a series of shows on for the last few weeks going through their pick of 100 books called "The Great American Read". Everyone was encouraged to vote on which book was their favourite out of the 100. Each week they previewed a few of the books on their show.
Watching the show each week, not only got me excited about being a reader, but also got me thinking that I need to read more, and gave me a few ideas of new books to try. Out of the 100 books chosen, the winner was announced today...
I'm not surprised by the first choice, but was surprised by the second choice - The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. I haven't read the Outlander series, but know that she has a huge following. Just one of the many suggestions of the 100 that I might try to read.
For more information check out www.pbs.org - the shows can be watched online until November 20th.

Royal Wedding
Did you?
Did you get up really early on Saturday morning to watch Harry and Meghan get married?
I did.
I went to bed about 10:30 Friday night. Woke up at 2:00am. Crawled downstairs and turned the TV on. Watched it until about 5:30am. Then crawled back to bed and slept until 10:00am. Despite the hours of sleep I did get, I still needed a 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon! But, I'm glad I stayed up to watch it!

and it's done
...and now, I'm done. I've officially watched all episodes in the 2 seasons of The Crown on Netflix. It was good! I can't wait for the 3rd season to be released, although I'm going to find it hard to get used to a new cast playing the same characters. I'm interested to see how they are going to pull it off.

This is Us
Netflix put the first season of This is Us on a few months ago. During my vacation in October, I started watching it. I've been watching Season 2 on TV ever since I got caught up.
They say that you will laugh, and then you will cry, with every episode you watch. "They" are not wrong. It is a very touching series, tackling some very real issues. And I'm surprised when each episode I laugh out loud, only to burst into tears a few moments later. I'm especially in love with the acting ability of this man... His name is Sterling K. Brown, and he plays the character Randall Pearson. He won his second Emmy for this role, and his performance on the series is proof as to why he deserves it.

Josh who?
Have you heard of Josh Gates? He used to host this show called Destination Truth.
It was a show where he would take you around the world hunting for strange creatures and paranormal phenomena. They often interviewed local residents, researched the history of the creature and/or the area and searched for physical evidence using various types of cameras and recording devices. It was an interesting show. Made even more funny and interesting to watch because of the Josh Gates' great sense of humour. His witty running commentary on everything made watching the show even more hilarious and interesting. Not to mention, that he's not hard to look at... if you like the Hugh-Jackman-ish-manly-man-kind-of-look...
But Destination Truth got cancelled, or maybe it was the SyFy channel that is was on went belly up. Either way, it's been a few years since I've seen the show. So, imagine my surprise when channel surfing the other day, I came across a show called Expedition Unknown.
It is very similar to Destination Truth, with Josh Gates as the host. I ended up watching a couple of hour long episodes. And got hooked all over again.

secret indulgences
I'm addicted.
I'm addicted to those stupid cheezy Christmas movies that they play every night on the W Network.
Movies with no-name actors. Movies that are so predictable, cheezy, and obviously low budget. Movies with names like "Hats off to Christmas", and "The Christmas Lodge", and "The Road to Christmas" and (no I'm not making this up) "Ice Sculpture Christmas".
I think I need help.

Eurocup
With our recent TV/Cable upgrades, and the EuroCup playing in France, we've been watching a lot more TSN and soccer games in HD than I care to admit to.

TV
House of Cards, Season 4 out on Netflix this week.
Downton Abbey Final episode airing Sunday night on PBS.
I've wanted to re-watch Seasons 1 to 5, and now 6 is out.
I think it's time to do a little binge watching.

Oscars 2016
We watched part of the Oscars last night. Sorry to say, I wasn't impressed. I kept thinking that if I took a drink every time they said the word "black" on the show, well I would be completely drunk in the first 1/2 hour. I did keep tuned in (somewhat) in order to see Leo win his first Oscar though.
And all that talk about the movie - well, I decided to start reading The Revenant before we see the movie. I did that with The Martian, and I'm glad I did. While the movie was great, the book was infinitely better.

Latest obsession
We finished watching Downton Abbey. And were left with the question... "What do we watch next?". We decided on Breaking Bad:
We have 5 seasons on Netflix. But, we promised ourselves we would watch during the week, but take the weekends off, so we won't blast through all 5 seasons in less than 3 weeks.

obsessions
We've been watching Downton Abbey lately. Obsessively. We usually watch 2 episodes a night now. So, I'm feeling very torn...
One -- I'm enjoying the show a lot more than I thought I would, and I don't want it to end.
Two -- I can't wait until we finish all the episodes, so that I will get something else done!

Downton Abbey
After finishing off the latest season of House of Cards on Netflix, we pondered what series to get into next. Our decision... Downton Abbey
I love the estate!!
So far, I'm not disappointed in the show either. It's been really good!

House of Cards, Season 3
So, we started watching House of Cards, Season 3 on Netflix recently. There are 13 episodes in the new season, and we thought that we would watch 1 episode a night for 2 weeks. But, 6 days later, and we are done. All 13 episodes.
It was good. Not as good as the first or second season, but still entertaining. Although, I really don't like Doug anymore.

House of Cards - Season 2
House of Cards Season 2 is now on Netflix.
We watched the first episode last night. It was so good!
I know what we are going to do this weekend now... watch all the other episodes back to back :-)

GoT, and back to work now...
I'm halfway through the Game of Thrones first 3 seasons. I've watched all of Season 1 now, and 1/2 of Season 2. Last night, I watched 3 episodes back to back. What can I say? It is certainly keeping me entertained. If you haven't seen it yet, let me warn you... it's certainly R rated. There is lots of violence, sex, and beheading going on. It takes place in a fantasy land, but resembles our Medieval times. Think "Braveheart" crossed with "Lord of the Rings". Only with a bit more sex. And a couple of horses that get mutilated. And lots of people's heads, that are no longer on the people's bodies. You get the idea. Despite the gore and violence though, I'm actually enjoying the series. I had contemplated reading the books first, but decided I have too much else to read right now.
Today was my first day back to work after a week's vacation time. I worked for 10 hours, and then came home and worked another 2. It's been a long day!! While I really enjoyed my vacation time off, I sometimes get the feeling that it just isn't worth it to take any time off.
